Hear UR is a student-centered digital project based in the Department of History at the University of Rochester.

Students enrolled in project-related courses are challenged to think about sharing historical research through new digital mediums such as blogs and podcasts. Undergraduate students involved in the course learn the basics of content management systems such WordPress. Additionally, participants are exposed to digital audio recording and editing in order to draft, record, and produce their own podcasts. Season 1 of Hear UR, titled “Under the Low Bridge,” features seven environmental history podcasts where students examine the ecological impacts associated with the construction and continued use of the Erie Canal from 1817 to present day. Season 1 will be published in January 2018.
