Rector of St. Andrews Church (now Calvary St. Andrews), the controversial Episcopalian minister and proponent of the Social Gospel movement whose work was supported by Emily Sibley Watson and her mother, Elizabeth Sibley. He performed the second marriage of Emily Sibley Watson to her childhood friend, James Sibley Watson. In 1906 he was tried for heresy in Batavia, defended by James Breck Perkins, but ultimately dismissed from his post. His writings included The Last of the Heretics, his autobiography (1924), and Religion and Politics (1905).
