American painter, Beckwith exhibited with the Rochester Art Club in the 10th (1889), 11th (1890), 13th (1892) and the 14th (May 1893) annual exhibitions.

Beckwith’s 1893 scrapbook of his Egyptian tour mentions the Sesostris on 3/7/1893, as one of several dahabeeyahs that came down the river together, “all flying the American flag.” His 12/15/1893 entry mentions “the people from the Sesostris making a call.” His scrapbook,in the National Academy of Design, contains photos from his trip down the Nile, roughly contemporaneous to those taken by the Watsons.
