John Newton Beckley was a prominent Rochester attorney. He was city attorney from 1882-1886 after which he practiced with the firm of Bacon, Briggs & Beckley. He was also president of the Rochester Railway Company after helping to reorganize street railroads in the city.
In 1893 Beckley was elected to the Board of the Rochester Homeopathic Hospital. Elizabeth Sibley describes the meeting in a letter to her daughter on 1/23/1893.
