Mary Blossom Buell Averell (Mrs. William Holt Averell) was known as "Blossom" within her extended family.  Her husband was a cousin of Isaac Seymour AverellEmily Sibley Watson's first husband. Blossom and her family resided in Rochester after 1880.  Her daughter Elizabeth Averell Rogerson was a New York city interior decorator who collaborated with George Herdle on the Memorial Art Gallery's Inaugural Exhibition in 1913, and decorated George Eastman's conservatory in 1919.

In a letter to her mother from the Sesostris on the Nile, Emily Sibley Watson writes: "Please tell Blossom our Christmas card came & that I was delighted with it & thank her for thinking of me."
